How to gauge the legitimacy of RTOs that offer White Card courses
With the recent surge of websites offering the White Card course online despite the 2019 ban, it is important to verify that the course provider is legitimate. We recommend to always ensure that they are registered on government websites such as training.gov.au and myskills.gov.au.
According to myskills, it is the national directory of vocational education and training (VET) organisations and courses. As an Australian Government initiative, it's goal is to enable consumers to search and compare VET courses and training providers.
The RTO is registered on MySkills for the White Card course
For instance, you can verify that Tradie Training is offering a legitimate course as our Gold Coast White Card training office is registered on the myskills.gov.au website. And to the same extend, our Brisbane South White Card training office is also registered on myskills.gov.au. Further to that, you can verify that the price listed on the White Card course description page matches the price on the website of the course provider.
Training.gov.au with White Card on scope
In addition to myskills, you can verify that the training provider is listed on training.gov.au by searching with their name or RTO number. Training.gov.au is the National Register on Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia. It is managed by the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business on behalf of State and Territory Governments. It maintains a list of Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) such as:
- Training Packages
- Qualifications
- Units of competency
- Accredited courses
- Skill sets
Tradie Training's RTO number is 45555, and a quick search finds our White Card training provider profile, with our training scope and more.
Ensuring the domain is educational
Another quick and easy way to ensure the RTO is government approved is to check the domain name. Only educational organisation will be offered edu.au domain names. Refer to the image below to see how to check the domain names.
